This self-portrait is purely a reflection of Caroline's
talent and, she insists, not herself. Caroline studied
graphic design after a difficult decision torn between
the aforementioned and the art of sculpture.
A sucker for Giger and prone to Lucas'esque' fantasies,
she envisioned a future in film special effects.
Reluctant to divulge the inspiration for her choice,
she accredits it to a porno movie producer from LA falling
in love with a small fimo figurine created for him and titled
"Sean the Carrot Boy" ( perhaps another time then...)
Caroline stinted in chalkboarding, political cartooning
and corporate letterheads ( hangs her head in shame )
while studying. Once in Cape Town, she continued doing so
as she felt waitressing had its charms and was, in fact far
more creative than designing department store brochures.
Somewhere along the line Caroline managed to bribe Elle
magazine to feature her as 'First Buzz" opener and has
subsequently appeared in the Herald, Die Burger, True Love
and Style magazine. By some twist of fate she also
managed an interview and portfolio show-casing in the
Design Indaba publication. Weird. She now illustrates
regularly for FHM, various music labels (Ryan Dent,
Morgan, Craig De Souza etc ) and inspiring ad agencies,
the likes of Jupiter Drawing Room ( Foschini ), Lowe Bull
and TBWA Fusion. She has had her illustrations published
in Style, Elle, Truelove, Heat, Design Indaba, Y, SL and
created Vodaworld's cover illustrations for a 4 month
contract. She is also responsible for the gorgeous
"Divinity" on Thunda.com as well as the Red Bull Big Wave
Africa web site illustrations. She has just completed the
illustration and animation conceptuals for Lowe Bulls web site.
