David Anderson [Andy] grew up in what is now KwaZulu-Natal .

He received some unwelcome attention for lampooning
his teachers before finally being asked to illustrate
the dormitory walls. This went to his head and he has
been drawing ever since.

His editorial cartooning career started with bi-weekly
submissions to the Natal Witness in 1977 while
farming in the midlands. From there he moved to the
Pretoria News, The Sunday Times, The Rand Daily
Mail and finally The Johannesburg Star.

Two-time winner of the Standard Bank Cartoon
of the Year Award, he published
“ The Cartoons of Andy” in 1990 before moving with
his family to Canada .

David is now a freelancer in Toronto where his work
has appeared in most of the major daily papers as
well as in such publications as The LA Times,
The Boston Globe and Time Magazine.
He does advertising and magazine jobs along
with private commissions.

He still enjoys doing long distance work for clients in
South Africa and is syndicated worldwide through
C&W Syndicate in LA and The New York Times
Syndicate.
